One of our favorite day hikes is Charlie's Bunion followed by a short "hike" up to Clingman's Dome to watch the sunset.

Charlie's Bunion is about 8 miles round trip, so you can plan on around 4-5 hours, give or take...
So, sleep in and relax! And, with an elevation of 5,564, it's going to be much cooler up there!!!
